Who wouldn’t want to spend a Friday night making art? Participants at CAGE 2017 in Halifax will spend part of the evening of April 21st at the Wonder’neath Art Society, a neighbourhood resource supporting artistic development and community dialogue throught the arts. Bringing together professional artists and local residents in their studio space, Wonder’neath bills itself as a place to share ideas and to bring people together.

The society runs the free drop-in Open Studio on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as engaging partners and other participants in projects. They also offer painting studios, a kiln and meeting/hive studio spaces.

Open Studio features professional artists and volunteers to CAGE-2017-Halifax-wonderneathassist participants in projects and experiences varying from needle felting to screen printing, sculpting to painting. The have a large selection of hand tools for building, various papers, odds and ends in storage bins, and even healthy snacks for sharing.

Wonder’neath’s resource library is more than instructional manuals, craft books, exhibition catalogues and art books (though they have plenty of those, too) – the library had a variety of hand tools and safety equipment for use during programs. They can provide a range of non-consumable tools (such as scissors, knitting needles, brayers, etc.) for general use.
